BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty makes MP 'squirm' in 'toe-curling' Tory party grilling

BBC Breakfast fans’ “toes were curling” during a awkward interview with Naga Munchetty and Security Minister Damian Hinds.

The 52-year-old MP appeared on the programme after further allegations emerged suggesting Tory MPs had held two further parties which are claimed to have taken place on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral – while the Queen sat alone when saying goodbye to her husband.

Boris Johnson’s previous Director of Communications James Slack issued an apology, adding that “the party on the eve of Prince Philip’s funeral should not have happened,” read out Naga on the show.

Now wanting answers, Naga quizzed Damian on the recent allegations, only to be told that “he wasn’t there”.

Viewers claimed that they could see “sweat pouring” from the minister as he “squirmed” during the tense discussion.

“Sweat pouring off his face. Damian hinds on #bbcbreakfast #ToriesPartiedWhilePeopleDied,” read one tweet.

“This is toe curling. He’s a liar. He’s lying right now. Bin him off. #hinds #bbcbreakfast,” added another.

A third remarked: “Naga taking no s*** from Damian Hines today. Makes me feel all warm when she gets tough. #BBCBreakfast #Breakfast @BBCBreakfast.”

While a fourth commented: “#BBCBreakfast Squirming like a worm on a fishing hook there Damien Hinds.”

Naga seemed to become annoyed when she’d had to repeat her question twice during the discussion.

Speaking to the MP, the news reporter said: “Apologies if I wasn’t clear but that’s not what I asked, we know there was fury.

“What I said was, there is fury and anger because this government is seen to have a culture of rule breaking, can you equivocally say that that is not the case?’

Damian responded: “I do not believe that to be the case.”
