BBC Dragons' Den viewers go wild as fashion app brings iconic Clueless scene to life

Dragons’ Den viewers were left feeling nostalgic during the latest episode of the BBC One series after an entrepreneur pitched a fashion app which channelled 90s cult classic Clueless.

South African-born Bianca Rangecroft entered the Den pitching her digital wardrobe app Whering.

The app allows users to catalogue their clothes, create unlimited outfits and get styling suggestions directly from your phone.

The idea immediately gave viewers a blast from the past, reminding them of one famous scene from the comedy hit starring Alicia Silverstone.

The movie’s lead character Cher can be seen using her computer to figure out what to wear that day and fans have fawned over the software for decades, wishing they had such a service at their fingertips.

“OMG SHE INVENTED CHER’S WARDROBE FROM CLUELESS. My teenage dreams have come true too late,” gushed one viewer.

“This app is just clueless and I love it!! #dragonsden,” agreed a second.

A third stated: “IT’S CLUELESS IRL I’M OBSESSED #dragonsden.”

While a fourth agreed: “Is someone actually on #dragonsden with the thing from Clueless?..I LOVE IT!”

The app requires the user to take pictures of their clothes and upload them to the app, which means you can browse all your items and receive outfit suggestions.

Founder Bianca says people can now “put outfits together from the comfort of their own couch” with the help of AI, which recommends stylish outfits and offer up other shopping recommendations in order to make money.

The former banker, who has put £70k of her own money into the app after quitting her job as a banker, described the idea as “like Tinder but for your clothes”.

Despite impressive the Dragon’s with the idea, would-be investors Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman, Sara Davies and Steven Bartlett were not willing to invest their own cash, and Bianca left the den empty handed.

Next into the Den was Jez and Katie, modelling a mobility aid developed by Yorkshire-based Lindsay.

Lindsay’s brainchild product Neo-Walk aims to encourage people to look beyond the disability and focus on the stylish sticks instead.
