BBC's Dan Walker tells Sally 'don't do those eyes at me like Louise Minchin used to'

BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker warned his co-star Saly Nugent “don’t do those golf eyes at me” on Wednesday’s programme.

The 44-year-old TV presenter made the remark as the pair discussed some of Wednesday’s headlines but the Strictly Come Dancing star instantly became worried after he’d pulled out a story about golf.

It seems that the newsreader had faced some stick in the past from his former partner on the red sofa, Louise Minchin, – and didn’t want the same to happen again.

Sally didn’t seem to be impressed with Dan’s choice but before she had a chance to say anything, the 50 year old was shut down.

“Talking golf, now don’t do those golf eyes at me like Louise Minchin used to do.”

Dan dished out a warning to co-star Sally

“Go on,” laughed Sally.

Continuing, Dan explained: “This is an interesting one, you know how Saudi Arabia have been accused of what has been called sport watching.

They’ve put a lot of money into sports like boxing and like golf, to try and improve their reputation around the world.

Dan mentioned his former co-star Louise Minchin

He added: “Well the latest effort is golf and there’s a lot of talk last year about them trying to get involved in some of the tours around the world and start like a world tour.

“Well that was denied them but now what they are doing is they’ve bought the Asian tour and there’s an Asian tour event actually taking place in the UK this year and they’re offering people like Ian Poulter up to £22 million to be involved with gold in Saudi Arabia.”

Former sports host Sally asked: “Nice, and would that then mean that he would be out of things like the Ryder Cup?”

Dan went on: “Well the Ryder Cup is owned by the European tour and the PGA tour so they are really uncomfortable with the Saudis coming in and sort of putting so much money into golf.

“So he’s been told, it says here that under no uncertain terms that if he does sign up for that money then that’ll be it for the Ryder Cup, so he won’t be able to play in it again and he won’t be able to be a captain which is what he would really want to do.”

“He might be serious potential next time, that’s a big decision as that’s a lot of money,” responded Sally.

Meanwhile, Louise Minchin stepped down last September as a BBC presenter after over two decades of service to the channel – which still seems to be raw for her former co-star Dan.

Before her departure Louise explained: She said: “I’ve got lots of really exciting adventures planned. I’m trying to write a book about that as well.”

“And I’ll continue my podcast, which is all about the mental and physical benefits of sport and exercise.”
