BBC's Deborah James dons polka dot dress as she attends Royal Ascot with family

Dame Deborah James put on a stunning display as she attended Royal Ascot.

The BBC star, who heartbreakingly announced in May that she was receiving end of life care for stage four bowel cancer, was all smiles as she was photographed at the British racing event on Wednesday (June 15).

The 40-year-old looked incredible wearing a navy polka dot dress that featured a elegant white frilled collar.

Deborah teamed her ensemble with her pair of cream studded shoes and a matching Saint Laurent clutch bag.

The mum-of-two attended the annual racing event in Berkshire with her brother Benjamin James and his new fiancé Ashley Hall.

The podcaster was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in December 2016 and was told by doctors that she may not live beyond five years.

Dame Deborah launched the bowel babe fund to continue her legacy which has now raised more than a £6.7million for the cancer fundraiser.

The You, Me And The Big C host recently revealed she is “trying to find the diamond moments in the rough” as she continues her end of life care.

On Saturday (June 11), Deborah and her husband Sebastien Bowen got dressed up to attend one of BBC star’s “favourite places.”

The pair headed to Glyndebourne opera house to watch La bohème at the venue in East Sussex.

The opera-lover shared an adorable snap of herself and her husband of 14 years and as usual, had her infectious smile present for the pictures.

In the caption, the bowel babe was honest about how day’s out like this take their toll and gave her followers an insight into the struggles of living with her illness.

She candidly penned: “But be under no illusion! I’m knackered! I’ve worked out it takes me longer to get ready and organised to go than the time I actually last anywhere!

“Getting dressed is tiring, getting meds organised is tiring, the extra moving, the travel, the wondering what mood your stomach is in – it’s all real!

“But then the feeling of making it to something you didn’t think possible, having put makeup on, donning new shoes, with the sunshine smiling – well then it’s all worth it!”
