Betty White spent final years in Los Angeles home she 'didn't want to live in'

Hollywood actress Betty White died on New Year’s Day, 2021, aged 99.

Her devastating death came just two weeks before the Golden Girls was due to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17, 2022.

Reports now suggest that Betty’s final years were spent at a home she didn’t want to live in.

The award-winning actress had lived in Los Angeles for several years but sources claim she would have been happier living away from Tinsel Town in the home she and her late husband Allen Ludden had purchased.

Speaking to The New York Post, a source said: “She never wanted to leave her home in Carmel, but was forced to for at-home care.

“Los Angeles was more accessible. If she had it her way, Betty would’ve lived and died in that home [in Carmel].

“It’s the home she shared with her husband, it’s where she felt more comfortable.”

Since the news of her passing, tributes have flooded in from across the world while some social media users have claimed that the past year has been “cursed” with Betty’s death being the final act of the curse.

Following her passing, while fans flooded to social media to share their condolences, others hit out over the previous year.

One Twitter user typed: “I can’t believe Betty White passed away 2 weeks before her 100th birthday, 2021 [is] still cursed.”

“The final curse of 2021, rest in peace Betty White,” wrote a third.

While a fourth commented: “Damn you 2021, you had one curse left. Rest In Peace Betty White.”

“I can’t believe Betty White passed away so close to her 100, this curse better stay in 2021,” fumed another.

Moments after her death, sources confirmed to TMZ that Betty didn’t have any illnesses and died from natural causes.

Meanwhile, Betty’s agent Jeff Witjas said: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever.

“I’ll miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much.

“I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden.

“She believed she would be with him again.”

Her death comes shortly after an interview with People which saw her celebrate her “good health” as she shared her excitement to turn 100.

She told the publication: “I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age. It’s amazing.”
