BGT's Simon Cowell spotted with wrist brace as he opens up on horror e-bike crash

Simon Cowell has opened up on his horror bike crash after being spotted wearing a wrist brace ahead of Britain’s Got Talent.

The music mogul hasn’t been having much luck when it comes to two-wheeled vehicles of late, after falling and breaking his back while in Malibu.

He later suffered complications from surgery to fuse to vertebrae – before getting back on the bike and falling yet again.

This time, Simon crashed his electric bicycle while in London, and was “lucky to be alive” after suffering an injury to his arm which left him in a bright plaster cast.

Now, ahead of the BGT launch this weekend, Simon has swapped his cast out for a wrist splint – and opened up on the horror incident.

He admitted to Daily Star: “Well, I fell off my bike in London. It wasn’t my fault – it was raining, and it was a sharp bend!”

Explaining that the brace was related to his previous injury rather than a fresh one, Simon added: “The long [cast] has come off. Now, as my bone is healing, I still have to wear this for a couple more weeks.

“It’s nearly fine,” he elaborated.

His latest accident saw the “blood-soaked” tycoon riding a Das Spitzing Evolution S-Pedelec bike at speeds of 20mph without wearing a helmet.

He experienced a suspected concussion, facial cuts and a broken arm – but was seen cheerily giving a thumbs up to gathered fans with his arm in a bright yellow cast just days after.

A source revealed at the time: “Simon is lucky to be alive. He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch.

He has agreed to start wearing a helmet

“Despite this being his second great escape, Simon insists he’s not ditching the bike – but he will start wearing a helmet.”

His young son Eric reportedly chose the colour of his dad’s cast, and later doodled their two dogs, Squiddly and Diddly, on the plaster.

Britain’s Got Talent kicks off for a bumper weekend this Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7:35pm on ITV.
