Britain's Got Talent star 'humiliated' after ITV show stint and regrets taking part

Britain’s Got Talent contestant Joey Howard has admitted he regrets taking part in the show after being buzzed out of the competition by the judges.

Joey, 69, appeared on the hit ITV talent finding show over the weekend to perform one of his comical routines for the panel – but failed to impress Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden with the routine.

He tore up newspaper to make comedy origami as part of his routine – but was buzzed off before he even got to complete his audition.

Joey has now claimed it was the show producers who asked him to take part and that he wishes he had declined the offer.

His personal assistant Lynda Harrison also told Yorkshire Live that he went on the show blindly as he had never seen it.

She said: “Just setting the record straight, Joey did not apply to be a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent.

“He was invited almost two years ago by a producer for the programme. He has never watched Britain’s Got Talent (but now wishes he had of course!)”

She continued: “He genuinely saw this as an opportunity to be on the telly and to tread the star-trodden boards of The London Palladium stage before he pops his clogs.

“Unfortunately he wasn’t careful about what he wished for – and got both wishes. But Joey is a philosophical soul and said ‘Well – you live and you learn’.

“Perhaps a more relevant quote would have been, ‘You die on your a***, then you learn.’

Lynda did however take a moment to thank people for showing their support for Joey, despite his poor outcome.

She added:”He wants to thank the many wonderful messages of support and commiseration he has received from his mates in the business who genuinely know what he is capable of, a lot asking the same question; “Why the hell did you do it?”

“Joey’s reply, “Exactly – why the b***dy hell did I?” All is fair in love, war and Britain’s Got Talent.”
