Britney Spears has announced she is expecting her third child in a delighted Instagram post.
The pop star seems to be flourishing after her heartbreaking ordeal as she finally broke free of her father’s strict conservatorship.
During the court proceedings in 2021, in which she was released from the restrictive legal contract, the court heard her claim that she was not allowed to marry partner Sam Asghari and had to use birth control to prevent her from having another child.
Conservatorships are granted by American courts for people who are unable to make their own decision and are usually reserved for those with dementia or severe mental illnesses.
Britney, 40, declared her happy news on Instagram and said: “I lost so much weight on my trip to Maui only to gain it back. I thought ‘geez… what happened to my stomach?’

“My husband said ‘No You’re food pregnant silly! So I got a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby.”
It will be Britney’s third child after two sons from her previous marriage. So who are her children and where is their father now?

Britney Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2006 and they had two children.
‘K-Fed’, 44, is a former backup dancer and the two announced their engagement after only three months of dating.
Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline’s attorney, said: “Kevin is aware of Britney’s Instagram post. He wishes her the best for a happy, healthy pregnancy and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they plan for the excitement of parenthood together.”
In her recent pregnancy update, Britney bravely spoke about how she battled depression in a previous pregnancy when she was with Kevin.
She said: “It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression… I have to say it is absolutely horrible…
“Women didn’t talk about it back then… Some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her…
“But now women talk about it everyday… thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret…”

Britney Spears has two sons with Kevin Federline – Sean, born in 2005, and Jayden one year later in September 2006.
In a rare Instagram post about her children in March 2022, the Toxic singer said: “I’m extremely lucky because my two babies are such gentleman and so kind that I must have done something right.”
Two months after the birth of Jayden, Britney filed for divorce from K-Fed and cited irreconcilable differences, though she later claimed she was forced to divorce him by her team.
Kevin and Britney initially agreed to share joint custody of their children when the divorce was finalised in 2007, but by October it was Kevin who was granted sole custody due to what a judge said was Britney’s “habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol”. Britney was only granted visitation rights to her boys.
During Britney’s conservatorship, the exes attempted to co-parent their kids, before Kevin applied for a 70/30 split after an alleged altercation between Britney’s father Jamie Spears and her son Sean.
Kevin is reportedly ‘open’ to a more equal split in contact, but it is reported that she now sees the boys less due to them getting older.
A source told tabloids: “Britney has been advised to leave the custody situation as is because – by the time it would get this to the courts and changed – her one son will be 18 and the other will be right behind.
“She doesn’t want to put her kids through that mess and deal with unnecessary attention to them or their lives. They are both fully old enough to know exactly what is going on. They love her and are so glad that she is finally getting her life back. All her sons have known their whole lives is Britney in the conservatorship.”
