Carol Kirkwood concerned as BBC Breakfast co-star leaves her 'shaking in her shoes'

BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood voiced concerns that her job role could come under threat by co-star Ben Thompson.

The weatherwoman, 60, is a beloved member of the morning show and has talked viewers through the daily forecasts since 1998.

Appearing in the studio alongside Ben and Naga Muchetty ‘s replacement Victoria Valentine, the Scottish star was her usual cheery self as she gave a detailed weather report for viewers.

But before she got started, Ben gave his own analysis of today’s weather as he said: “Carol we often say the weather is complicated but so far you’ve told us that temperatures are above average – it’s actually quite warm isn’t it.

“There’s really kind of strong winds, rain that is really unpredictable. There’s a whole lot today isn’t there?”

Opening her hands up, a stunned Carol responded: “I think you’ve just made me redundant, Ben!,” as she was met with giggles from the studio.

“But I’ll press on anyway. Good morning everybody!,” she added before presenting her daily report.

Once the BBC star was finished, Ben made sure to let Carol know that his brief description was to prove he was listening to her.

He said: “Carol, thank you. That is a much more technical, specific expert forecast that I could ever hope to give.”

Turning her head slightly to the side, Carol insisted: “Oh I don’t know,” before Ben added: “I was just proving that I was listening! That’s all.”

Touching upon the great job Ben did, Carol responded: “You did a pretty good job I have to say, Ben! I am now shaking in my shoes,” as she giggled.

The news anchor clarified: “You’re job is very safe, Carol. Do not worry!” before Victoria chimed: “Gold stars all round!”

Carol admitted it is unlikely she will still be on BBC Breakfast when she’s 70

Carol recently spoke about her future on the morning programme and admitted it is unlikely that she will still be working there when she’s 70.

The weatherwoman told the Western Mail: “I don’t want to go, but one day it’s going to happen.

“Hopefully, it will be natural but I also have to acknowledge I’m 60 and am unlikely to be at the BBC when I’m 70, I would have thought.”
