Chris Kamara is set to quit Cash in the Attic following his heartbreaking speech diagnosis.

The presenter admits it will be too tough for him to film another series due to his speech apraxia.

He said: “There is a new series coming up, but I’m not sure I’m actually up for doing it.”

Chris filmed his first run of the show earlier this year and it left him exhausted.

He said: “It was so great to do the show, but there was a lot of travelling.

“The problem was, I live in Leeds so I had to travel down to Folkestone the night before a recording, then do the show all day and then get home at midnight.

“At that time I was suffering really bad with my condition. It took loads out of me. I don’t want to end up doing something like that again.”

The broadcaster presented the latest series of the Channel 5 show but the travelling was tough

Chris, 64, was diagnosed with speech apraxia last year and it was so severe he feared his career was over.

But after getting treatment, he has been able to continue with some shows.

Chris recently opened up about how he was finding life at the moment, saying: “Strange in terms of I feel a fraud now in terms of broadcasting – I don’t bring to the table what I used to. So that’s hard.

“I feel I’m doing these programmes and they’re not getting the best of me, but they’re tolerating me. That’s how it feels.

“My life away from the screen couldn’t be any better – grandkids, family, it’s perfect.”

The star is making a documentary about the condition to raise awareness. Chris Kamara: My Life With Apraxia will air on ITV1 next month.

Chris started presenting the latest series of Cash in the Attic in August of this year alongside Jules Hudson.
