Comedian Alan Carr announces split from husband Paul Drayton after 13 years together

Comedian Alan Carr has split from his husband Paul Drayton after 13 years together.

In a statement released to PA News agency, a spokesperson said: “After 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton would like to announce they are separating.

“They have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go their separate ways.

“We request that their privacy is respected at this sensitive time.”

The couple had been married for three years, but had been a couple for 13.

The couple tied the knot in 2018 with pop superstar Adele organising their big day – as well as paying for it and officiating the wedding.

They later moved to Aldington in Kent together after relocating from London.

Speaking on The One Show, Alan explained: “We’ve known her for ages, and when we told her we were getting married she said, ‘Can I please plan the whole day for you?’

“She did it all at her house. So, we got in there, and there is a grand piano with a man playing Ordinary People.

“Then she sang with our first dance, it was absolutely amazing. I can never repay her, she’s a one-off as we all know.”

It comes after it was announced back in December that Paul would undergo a life saving brain surgery which would see him endure having two holes drilled into his skull so medics can drain a potentially deadly blood clot.

Paul also hit headlines in November last year after he was accused of reversing into a police car while over the drink-drive limit, a court heard.

Drayton was allegedly four times over the drink-drive limit and nearly hit a mum with a pram during the incident, a court was told.

The 50-year-old was driving his Mitsubishi 4×4 when the accident is claimed to have taken place.

Paul was stopped 15 minutes later just three miles from his £2.7 million home which he shares with comedian Alan, 45.

He was seen “swerving from one side of the road to the other.”

After being pulled over, he was accused of reversing into a police vehicle, Crawley Magistrates’ Court heard.

Paul was charged last month with driving with 153mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath against a legal limit of 35mcg at Broadbridge Heath in Horsham, West Sussex.

Paul has denied the allegations, with prosecutor David Holman saying Drayton claims he was not driving during the close miss.

He has also claimed the breathalyser machine was not working properly when he was tested.
