Coronation Street DNA shock as Stu Carpenter investigation results leave Ayla reeling

Coronation Street fans are in for a huge DNA shock next week, as Alya Nazir learns something new about Stu Carpenter’s case.

Stu was sent down for the murder of Charlie Walter more than 27 years ago, but insists it wasn’t him who committed the crime he was accused of – despite police forcing a confession out of him.

Next week, Stu is becoming close with his daughter Bridget again as she meets Yasmeen in the Rovers.

Yasmeen guesses that she and daughter Eliza want to continue seeing Stu, but his ex-wife Lucy is dead set against it. Secretly, Yasmeen tells Alya and Stu that the pair are coming round the next day, but they’ll keep it from Lucy.

Bridget’s panic prompts a revelation for Stu

Stu is thrilled by the news after recently meeting his granddaughter for the first time.

Bridget and Eliza enjoy a brunch with Yasmeen and Stu, but a question from Eliza about her granddad’s time behind bars proves too much for Bridget, and she runs out into the garden.

Stu follows her to comfort her, letting her know how angry he was at being jailed for something he didn’t do – but he’s soon left reeling by Bridget’s shocking revelation.

Father and daughter are reunited on the cobbles

Dee-Dee, meanwhile, leaves Alya a voicemail explaining that the DNA results are due tomorrow.

Stu is left feeling lighter at Bridget’s admission, but Yasmeen is struggling with the news. Dee-Dee pops into Speed Daal to tell Alya the results are finally in, leaving the businesswoman shocked by what she hears.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, there’s trouble in paradise for Nick and Leanne as they receive correspondence from behind bars – a visiting order from Harvey Gaskell.

The pair agree not to respond, and Nick rips the paperwork up. But a wavering Leanne admits to her partner that she’s full of nerves, and just won’t be able to relax until she knows what the drug dealer wants.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
