Corrie’s Jacob star Jack James Ryan emotional as ‘brilliant’ co-star quits ITV soap

Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan was left emotional as he bade farewell to a departing co-star.

The actor, who plays Amy Barlow’s boyfriend Jacob Hay on the ITV cobbles, took to Twitter to praise the “brilliant” actress, who announced she would be leaving the soap this week.

Lucy Avison played Chloe Pearson for nine episodes of the Weatherfield-based soap – the social worker assigned to Abi’s son Alfie Franklin.

Alfie was engaged in a complicated custody battle with the death of his father Imran Habeeb, with Abi finally placed in temporary fostering under the watchful gaze of Wendy Crozier.

Now Lucy has explained that though she was initially contracted for just one episode, it turned into a longer stint than she expected.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (July 27), she penned: “Hey folks! Just letting you know that tonight is my last appearance as Chloe Pearson @itvcorrie.

“I had such a wonderful experience, what started as one episode became nine!! I am so looking forward to seeing what comes next and forever grateful for the opportunity xx.”

Jack James quickly responded to her post, writing: “You’ve been brilliant Lucy xx.”

As DS Swain star Vicky Myers echoed: “It was a joy to meet you Lucy and you were brilliant, as always! Hope our paths cross again!”

Another fan replied: “You were brilliant. I hope you get to come back but I don’t want Abi and Kevin to have any more problems!”, as a second social media user said: “You’ve played her so well! Great work and good luck with whatever comes next.”

“You smashed it well done! Good luck in your new adventure,” someone else posted.

A fourth fan cheekily replied: “Good luck for the future, Lucy! Judging by the end of Wednesday’s episode, Chloe’s services may be required again sooner rather than later!”

Along with her stint in Corrie, Lucy has also appeared in short film Liverpool Bounty and an episode of Lockdown Guerilla Shakespeare Festival.

She has also starred in various theatre performances including Romeo and Juliet, Oliver Twist and As You Like It, along with appearing in adverts for Hotels.com.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
