Corrie's Spider 'not really a cop' as eagle-eyed fans 'work out' racism plot twist

Coronation Street’s Spider Nugent might not be quite what he seems at first glance.

Eagle-eyed fans now think Spider isn’t an undercover cop at all – and could instead be falling for evil Griff’s racist ploys instead.

Spider has been chatting to one police contact for months, though the scenes have become few and far between. As part of his ‘undercover’ work, Spider was involved in the racist attack of Daryan, and tossed red paint at Speed Daal’s doors.

He’s desperate to convince Griff he’s still on-side despite standing back during the attack – with Toyah recognising his face in Friday’s episode (Friday 18).

Taking to Twitter with their observations, one eagle-eyed fan penned: “Still can’t believe they’re allowing Spider to pretend to be a undercover copper.

Eagle-eyed fans think Spider is not really an undercover cop

“Make this farce end! Spider the one Aunt Emily always spoke about but never mentioned him in Copper School….?”

Someone else echoed: “Calling it now, Spider’s not actually a cop and all of this has been a lie… would they really let him in on the attack? #Corrie.”

A third fan questioned: “What is Spider supposed to be doing? Is he an undercover cop or not?”

“Could Spider be any more obvious that he’s bogus af?” another said.

While a fifth added: “What is he actually detecting though.. so far he’s threw paint on the wall and allow a minor in the care of the authorities to be attacked… What undercover work has he ever done?? Ever??”

Later in the episode, Spider was ‘arrested’ by the cops, who told him he “wasn’t really being detained”.

But fans are definitely starting to wonder if he’s gone over to the dark side.

However, on the outside Spider was furious at himself for not intervening in the attack, fuming: “I can’t wait for that thug and his crazies to get locked up for good.”

Toyah confronted Spider over his involvement in the attack, with him lying about his whereabouts and insisting he’d just gone for a walk in the park rather than to the police station.

“I’ve seen the video of Daryan’s attack, I know it was you,” Toyah fumed. “So what, the police didn’t have enough evidence to hold you?”

It comes as other viewers have predicted Spider’s death might not be too far away, as they were left baffled by the sheer amount of evidence he needed to bring the gang down.
