Dancing On Ice's Oti Mabuse reveals skating judges have secret heaters while filming

New skating judge Oti Mabuse has revealed the Dancing On Ice judges use hidden heaters and blankets to keep warm while filming the ITV skating competition.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional joined comedian Ricky Gervais during Monday’s instalment of The One Show as she shared some of the behind-the-scenes secrets from working on the show.

As the popular weekend show returned for its 14th series, the 31-year-old opened up about how exciting it was to join the judging panel after she announced she had replaced actor John Barrowman earlier this year.

The ballroom dancer swapped out the dance floor for the skating rink as she joined Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean on the show for the first time on Sunday.

But as beautiful as the dancer looked on screen, she confessed to presenters Alex Jones and Alex Scott that she was “freezing cold” throughout the show and held a hot water bottle for warmth throughout the show.

New mum Alex went on to compliment her TV guest on her stunning red dress that she wore on the opening night which featured an interesting skirt that was short at the front and long at the back.

She said: “Now then, you had an amazing dress on on the weekend – isn’t that nice? But you must be freezing.

“What’s your trick because Holly, we know, has some heaters in her dress” the TV presenter asked.

Oti confessed: “So, we have a heater underneath the table but on the night they actually said, ‘We can’t [turn on the heater] because it’s too loud for the mics’

“And I’m loud anyway so it would be just too loud, but then I had a hot water bottle and a blanket. That’s how I stayed warm.

She went on to reveal that there are certain spots in the arena that are warmer than others as she explained how Phil and Holly tactically stood to present the show.

The pro dancer explained: “But it depends where you’re sitting because there are some places that are really, really warm because Phillip doesn’t wear anything he just enjoys it.

“So there are some places where it’s warm but it is cold!”
