Des O'Connor's nephew snubs Love Island 2022 for different show over backlash fear

The Cabins star Bertie Garratt may be snubbing Love Island 2022 after being approached by producers.

Bertie is the late comedian Des O’Connor’s nephew and has already appeared on The Cabins a few months ago but is ready to jump right back into another TV opportunity.

During his stint on the show, he did his best to seek love after packing his bags and heading into the woods but he wasn’t successful, and blames being paired with a “boring” girl “who doesn’t drink”.

Having previously hinted that he was keen on heading into the ITV2 villa this year, it appears he has been swayed elsewhere and maybe dumping the popular dating show already.

The 23-year-old runs a painting and decorating business, The Brush Brothers, with his brother Harry Garratt, and still continues with his day job but dreams of brighter things as well.

Although he is leaning in the direction of other dating shows, Bertie is still going to apply for Love Island regardless.

He exclusively told the Daily Star: “Yeah, we are about to finish the application this week that they’ve asked me to do, some kind of phone call thing now, but I am looking at going on a different TV programme, which in my eyes is just as good.

“There are a couple I’m going through the admin side of things at the minute and I’m just currently debating which one I’m going to do.”

Talking about the application process for the popular ITV2 summer show, Bertie continued: “You have to fill a form out and do a video of yourself explaining who you are but I’m not 100% on Love Island at the moment, I think I’m going to do the other shows.

“For me, I feel like Love Island, a lot of people had negative experiences from being on there so I think I might avoid it as it’s people that I’m quite close to.

“But I’m definitely excited for this one that’s coming.”

The TV star also revealed that showbiz pal Wayne Lineker had been giving him some advice.

Bertie said: “I seem to be meeting some great people and taking a leaf out of everyone’s book. Wayne pointed me in the right direction of what to do or not to do, but yeah I suppose it’s all up to yourself, you make the decisions but I think if you go on a TV show and you slip up on there, you will be remembered for it.”
