Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne to become first ever drag queen to join Dancing on Ice

The Vivienne is the next celeb confirmed for the 2023 series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

They will be the first drag act which has ever starred on the skating show.

The Vivienen shot to fame after winning the first-ever season RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Announcing the news on social media, The Vivienne said: “I’m beyond excited to announce that I will be competing in Dancing on Ice in 2023!

“This is honestly a dream come true and I can’t wait to start training on the ice.

“To be the first drag artist to take part in one of the big UK reality competition shows is truly an honour. I think it’s a big step forward for queer representation on TV.”

The Vivienne can’t wait to star on the show

The Vivienne is the sixth celebrity to be announced for the 2023 lineup.

They will be joining the previously announced actress and DJ and EastEnders star Patsy Palmer, football legend Josh Fashanu and Love Island Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

Alongside, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher.

Corrie star Molly appeared on ITV’s Lorraine yesterday after the announcement to talk about her exciting opportunity.

Mollie told the host: “I’m really excited. I’ve not really felt nervous yet strangely but being here today, I am now feeling it a little bit.”

Talking about her previous skating experience, she added: “I’ve done it at Christmas markets and before the tryouts of Dancing on Ice, I checked that I enjoyed it… but hopefully I can whip around the ring!

“I love acting through song… so I’m hoping that when we get our song choices, I can create a character.

“That’s something I’m looking forward to.”

Love Island 2023 winner also announced her news and told GMB hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls live on air.

She said: “Hi Good Morning Britain, it’s Ekin-Su here today.

“I’ve got some amazing news to tell you – I will be doing this year’s Dancing on Ice.

“I am so excited for the team, I can’t wait to get on the ice and skate. Stay tuned and see you on the ice.”

Dancing on Ice is expected to return to ITV in January 2023
