EastEnders Janine's exit scenes air after Mick tragedy as Charlie Brooks quits again

EastEnders have aired Charlie Brooks’ exit as Janine Butcher after a dramatic Christmas in Albert Square.

The soap villain has waved goodbye to Walford once again 18 months after returning.

Since coming back, Janine has embarked on a romance with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) following his split from ex Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

Mick and Janine made it down the aisle in recent scenes but their marriage has been far from bliss.

Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) has been determined to expose Janine for who she is but she hadn’t managed to piece the puzzle together.

However, her luck was in on Christmas Day when Jada Lennox (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) returned and interrupted the family lunch.

The shock arrival later shared that Janine forced her to frame Linda earlier this year.

Janine flatly denied all accusations and Mick backed his wife her by throwing Sharon and Jada out of the pub.

An almighty row ensured with Linda, Mick and Janine as the trio came to blows on the Dover coast, with Mick sadly bowing out of the show after ten years.

Upon his dramatic ‘death’, Linda and Janine returned to Walford where the latter attempted to flee Albert Square with her daughter, Scarlett following an explosive row with Linda.

Janine was left stunned when her brother Ricky admitted he’d called the police following her bombshell revelations.

It resulted in Janine’s exit as she was carted off in a police car and fans rushed to discuss her explosive departure on social media.

While a fourth social media user wrote: “Janine is arrested! Now lock her and throw away the key.”

Previously opening up her exit, Charlie said: “I’m quite surprised because I thought she’d do everything to stay in that pub.

“But getting him away from Linda is ultimately her super-objective, and if that means abandoning the pub, then that’s what she will do.

“She could have ulterior plans to come back and buy that pub because I think it’s definitely ultimately what she wants.

“But it’s that thing, isn’t it? You get everything you want, but it’s still not enough.

“Whether it’s love or The Vic, Janine’s always seeking something to fill the void.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
