EastEnders' Max Branning return 'sealed' as fans spot major clue after crash

EastEnders viewers are predicting a custody battle over baby Annie after doctors called social services on Linda after testing her blood alcohol level.

Linda was taken to hospital after cunning Janine Butcher smashed her car into a tree and moved her body into the driver’s seat and fleeing the scene.

As Linda sits in a coma and an anxious Mick and Nancy await news on her condition, a doctor informs him that due to her high blood alcohol level, and the fact that she had a baby in the car while driving drunk, they have been forced to notify social services.

Nancy immediately suspects the baby could be removed from Linda’s care if she pulls through, having learned she will undergo brain surgery.

“Somehow I think Linda’s accident could bring Max back with Abi to take Annie,” said one.

“Poor little Annie, maybe they’ll give ‘er to Max Branning # EastEnders,” said another.

While a third said: “I see a custody war coming on. Janine is so cunning she’ll never get caught.”

Actor Jake Wood, who played Max, left Albert Square in February after 15 years on the BBC soap.

His very low-key exit came after character Max embarked on a relationship with married Linda Carter after the pair grew close in lockdown, while she was struggling with her husband Mick who was dealing with his own demons at the time.

Mick was finding it difficult to come to terms with the fact that he had been groomed and sexually abused as a child by care worker Katy Lewis but was unable to open up to wife Linda at the time.

As a result, Mick grew distant and passionless towards Linda, who believed that he had fallen out of love with her and prompted Linda to turn to her dangerous crutch of alcohol.

Max later tried to persuade her into leaving Walford with him to join Lauren and Louie and New Zealand, but she refused and stayed with Mick.

Later scenes saw Linda discover that she was pregnant and realised it must be Max’s baby due to the dates.
