Eurovision hopeful Sam Ryder claims to have seen UFO in 'weird' childhood encounter

UK Eurovision hopeful Sam Ryder reckons aliens exist and he’s even seen a UFO.

The TikTok star will be singing about being a Spaceman in the song contest in Turin this weekend.

His lyrics include: “If I was an astronaut, I’d speak to satellites. My navigation systems would search for other life.”

Now Sam tells us he thinks there really is life on Mars and other planets.

He says: “I absolutely believe in aliens. If you don’t then you haven’t been using your imagination enough.

“I do believe there is life on other planets. The mind boggles as to what they would look like but the kid in me likes to imagine that they are like ET.”

He’ll hope ET brings him luck and avoids the infamous nul point score.

Sam also believes there are flying saucers in our skies and has seen one himself.

He explained: “I desperately wanted to see a UFO and then I saw a weird moving object in the skies in Hawaii which made it even more cool.

Apparently there are a lot of UFO sightings around there.”

And as well as singing about being a spaceman, Sam would actually like to be an astronaut.

He added: “Since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be an astronaut. I wouldn’t be nervous.

“I just met Andre Kuipers and he was talking about how it will definitely be possible really soon for us all.”

Ryder found fame covering songs on TikTok during the lockdown, and he’s since racked up over 12 million followers on the social media site.

The singer admitted he never intended his Space Man track to be a Eurovision song, but he’s grateful for the opportunity.

He said: “I’m just excited and grateful to have the [Eurovision] opportunity.

“I’ve got to be real, I didn’t have a clue it would be in my stars.

“Space Man was written a year and a half ago, I never intended for it to be a Eurovision song.”

The star added: “My personal goal for this is to sing with the same intention that I always sing with, and then come away with the joy that it has given me.”

Eurovision – hosted by Graham Norton – airs on BBC One on Saturday at 8pm.
