GMB star Andi Peters left 'blushing' as Rishi Sunak 'starstruck' to meet him

ITV presenter Andi Peters couldn’t hold back his excitement during Friday morning’s episode of Good Morning Britain after politician Rishi Sunak revealed he was “starstruck” after meeting him.

In a recent interview, the MP was asked whether he had ever been left in awe by meeting someone famous during his career.

Happy to share his thoughts, Rishi, 42 said Andi, 52, was someone he was excited by and couldn’t believe he previously had a chat with him.

Seeing a clip of Rishi’s interview on GMB, Andi was clearly taken aback and told presenters Adil Ray and Kate Garraway that he was “blushing”.

Sharing his excitement, Andi said he couldn’t believe that Rishi was left stunned by him by he also gave him some advice.

Andi said: “I just told him be true to who you are and do the right thing!”

Tory leader contender Rishi is currently in the race to become the next Prime Minister and hopes to gain the position over MP Liz Truss.

In a recent interview Rishi said the government gave too much power to scientists during Covid lockdowns – and was not honest to the British public about the potential downsides.

In his chat with the Spectator, he said the negative impacts of lockdowns on society were “never part” of internal discussions, stating that meetings were “literally me around that table, just fighting”.

He also admitted that ministers were also told not to discuss the potential downsides in interviews.

The politician explained: “The script was not to ever acknowledge them. The script was: ‘Oh there’s no trade-off, because doing this for our health is good for the economy.'”

When asked if more frank discussions would have enabled Britain to avoid the lockdowns that the nation faced, he said: “I don’t know, but it could have been shorter. Different. Quicker.”

Once Boris Johnson steps down from the role of Prime Minister in September, the Queen will appoint the next PM at Balmoral instead of Buckingham Palace as she continues to battle mobility issues.

A source told The Sun: “The Queen has now been advised not to travel.

“But obviously no one tells the Queen what to do and ultimately it is her decision, and as we saw when she made a third appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the Jubilee she likes surprises.”
