GMB's Susanna Reid makes veiled dig at Adele as singer confirms BRIT Awards performance

Susanna Reid seemed to take a sly dig at Adele live on Good Morning Britain – after the singer announced she’ll be performing at the BRIT Awards 2022.

The ITV presenter reacted to Adele’s BRITs announcement with her co-star Adil Ray on Wednesday’s show (February 2).

The pair welcomed showbiz expert Richard Arnold into the studio to tell viewers about the latest events in showbiz.

Richard told the hosts about Adele’s recent news that she’ll be performing at the BRITs – which she revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday (February 2).

The Grammy-winning artist also said that she would be appearing on Graham Norton’s BBC One chat show – The Graham Norton Show – which airs on Friday evenings.

Excited Adele shared a snap of herself laughing, and alongside it wrote: “Hiya, so I’m really happy to say that I am performing at the Brits next week!!

“Anddddd I’ll also be popping in to see Graham for a chat on the couch while I’m in town too! I’m looking forward to it! Oh, and Rich sends his love.”

Adele was apparently mocking media outlets that reported that there was ‘trouble in paradise’ with her boyfriend Rich Paul – hinting that their relationship was on the rocks.

Richard told Susanna and Adil: “I think the Brits for her, road to redemption is probably quite strong, but if there are any disgruntled fans who crossed the pond to try and see her at Las Vegas and then the residency was cancelled…”

Cutting in seemingly sarcastically, Susanna quipped: “They can watch her on ITV!”, adding:” Marvellous news!”.

Adil agreed: “Oh that’s great.”

Richard continued: “It’s her home ground because in 2011 she brought the house down of course and it was a life changing performance for her back then.”

It comes after Adele decided to cancel her Las Vegas shows just 24 hours before the opening night – leaving many fans bitterly disappointed.

The iconic pop singer had been set to play a run of 24 concerts at the Collosseum in Caesars Palace – in what would have been her first live concerts in five years.

Addressing the ticket situation, Adil asked: “Those people who had bought tickets, are they getting refunds? What’s happening with that?”

Richard replied: “Vegas ones, apparently yes.

“But of course the real cost was getting the hotels and if you had made the journey, but this will be great for her.”

Susanna added: “It’s free to watch as well!”

The BRIT Awards 2022 will air on ITV on 8 February.
