Good Morning Britain weather presenter Alex Beresford engaged to 'secret' girlfriend

Good Morning Britain’s resident weather presenter Alex Beresford has revealed he is engaged to his ‘secret’ girlfriend Imogen McKay, three years after splitting from his wife.

He went his separate ways from ex-wife Natalia Natkaniec in 2019.

But now the 41-year-old weather presenter has confessed that he has been dating Imogen McKay, 29, since August 2020 – and he has now popped the question.

He told HELLO! Magazine that he got down on one knee while walking along the beach with his wife-to-be.

The GMB star – who also happens to be one of Piers Morgan’s fiercest rivals – explained to the publication: “The weather was sunny and warm, and the sea was crystal clear. ‘This is it,’ I thought. Imogen’s not one for taking photos, but as I persuaded her to pose for a picture overlooking the sea, I kneeled down to take the engagement ring I’d hidden inside my rucksack.

“When she turned around, I was on one knee, and asked her the biggest question of my life – and she said yes. It was an amazing moment.”

He asked Imogen to be his wife on New Year’s Day, on a trip to Majorca – which is also where they plan to marry.

Alex explained that he’ll have an intimate ceremony with around 100 guests, with his son Cruz, 12, acting as best man and ring bearer.

The star revealed that his friend had initially set him up with Imogen, and they “hit it off from the start”.

His fiancée, who is originally from Australia, works for a top London restaurant in e-commerce.

And she revealed that before meeting, she had never seen Alex on TV and stopped herself from looking him up.

She said being together “just came naturally” for the pair, as they found common ground in their love for their families and “shared values and goals”.

Previously, Alex revealed that being single aged 40 was “daunting”.

Opening up on the Get Britain Talking podcast, he said: “It’s been a massive learning curve, I didn’t think at the age of 20 that when I was approaching 40, I would be in this situation.

“The age of 40, you’ll be married, you’ll be a grown up, you’ll have a kid or two, your life is going to be set. I’m not old, I don’t feel old, it’s a bit daunting.”

He added: “I don’t want to grow old on my own, life is for sharing and it’d be great to meet someone in the future but they have to be right for me, right for Cruz.”
