Grey’s Anatomy’s Denise Dowse is “fighting for her life” in a coma after battling with meningitis.

Denise, 56, has reportedly been hospitalised due to her illness, it was revealed on August 5th.

Last Friday (August 5th), her sister wrote on Facebook: “Hello Family and Friends.

“As many of you have seen, my posts have been positive and up lifting. I am trying to keep my spirits up and support those who need it. As many of you know I am a private person. So this is hard for me.

“I am requesting support and prayers be offered me and my sister, and my only immediate family Denise Dowse.

Her family issues a statement

Her sister added: “She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis. Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma as it was not medically induced.

“She is a vibrant actor and director that should have many years ahead of her. Thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated.”

A friend commented below: “Surrounding all of you and her medical team with healing white light and wisdom.”

The actress played Dr. Rhonda Pyne on “Insecure” from 2017-2020.

Over the years, Denise has also had roles in “Coach Carter” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Good Trouble” “The Guardian” and “Rocket Power”.

The talented screen star has a whopping 122 acting credits to her name, according to her IMDB.

Denise last posted to her Instagram in June where she promoted a screening for her passion project.

Fans have taken to the comments since the news of her ill health broke, with one writing: “Prayers up for u.”

A second added: “This is sad. I really hope she pulls through.”

While a third penned: “A third wrote: “Praying for you sister.”
