Holly Willoughby 'called in lawyers' after 'damaging' queue-jumping backlash

Holly Willoughby reportedly called in a lawyer after she and Phillip Schofield were accused of bunking the queue to see the late Queen lying-in-state.

The This Morning presenters have faced backlash over the past week after social media users claimed the pair were able to bypass the queue which saw people lining the streets of London for 24 hours.

Since the initial accusation just over a week ago, an online petition has been launched calling for the presenters to be fired from their jobs.

The petition has now reached over 50,000 signatures but sources insist that Phillip and Holly will not be going anywhere.

Now, a source has claimed that Holly has called in a legal expert but would have been the first person to admit to wrongdoing if this was the case.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “She was doing her job but has been portrayed as enemy No1, while Phil has been subject to embarrassing memes.

“Holly had to get lawyers over the weekend over the presentation of this false, very damaging narrative.”

They went on to insist that Holly and Phillip “love” their job on This Morning and that the blonde bombshell won’t be handing in her resignation any time soon.

A source told The Mirror that Holly spoke to a legal representative but has decided against engaging a law firm.

On Tuesday (September 19), the pair addressed the accusations head-on as they shared a montage of footage while marking ten days since the death of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Holly stated that she and Phillip attended the lying-in-state for those who were unable to visit Westminster Hall in person.

During the footage, Holly said: “We were given official permission to access the hall, it was strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who haven’t been able to visit Westminster in person.

“The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back, in contrast, those paying respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.

“None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone’s place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen.

“We, of course, respected those rules – however, we realise that it may have looked like something else.

“And therefore, totally understand the reaction.”

While many have called for the pair to be axed, they’ve also received support from the likes of Lizzie Cundy, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.
