Holly Willoughby encouraged her three children to write letters to the late Queen Elizabeth II in an effort to help them “process their grief” following her death last week.
On Thursday (September 8), Her Royal Highness passed away at the age of 96 at her home in Balmoral Castle just 18 months after the death of her husband Prince Philip.
The TV presenter – who shared a rare snap of her children as they laid their handmade tributes to the Queen over the weekend – spoke out about how she and her children had been coping with her death.

After an emotional weekend, the 41-year-old appeared alongside Phillip Schofield on Monday’s edition of This Morning, where she explained how she helped her children to understand what had happened.

Speaking alongside co-hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, Holly revealed how she encouraged her children to write a letter to Her Majesty to help them come to terms with her death.
She explained: “She was just consistently here for so many of us. So many of us never knew any different so suddenly for her not to be there…
“I think that is why on Saturday I wanted to take the children down because I think you are trying to explain it to young people.
“You are almost trying to understand it yourself. I found it quite helpful as, as I was talking to them, it was helping it sink in for myself.”

The proud mum shared the three letters her children Harry, Belle and Chester made for the late monarch on the show.
Her eldest child Harry, 13, wrote: “Dear the Queen, what a journey it has been from a regular young Queen who only met 1 Prime Minister, to a national treasure who has met 15 Prime Minister and is the greatest Queen England has ever seen.
“Britain is so amazingly proud of your service for this country. And finally, I want to say thank you for football. Without you, I wouldn’t be playing for the team I am today. Long live the King.”

Her daughter Belle, 11, wrote: “To your Majesty, I hope you’re having an outstanding time in heaven with Philip and your mother and father.
“Me and my family are going to lay flowers for you at Buckingham Palace and go out for dinner for a treat!
“We will be thinking of you and missing you,” she concluded.
Seven-year-old Chester also penned: “To your Majesty, thank you for being our Queen.”

It comes after the blonde beauty opened up on the show how she had taught her son Chester about the concept of royal duty and service and therefore what it would mean to be the Queen.
She added: “I was trying to explain to him that whatever her passions and her loves from being a little girl, this was where she was destined to go, what she was destined to do.
“All of her own passions had to be put on the backburner for her country. Chester, he loves football but that would not be something he would get to do and it was giving him that level of understanding.”
