Home and Away viewers are set to see a familiar face return to Summer Bay this year, as Salvatore Coco reprises his role as Dimitri Poulos.

The actor teased on Instagram that filming has been “awesome” as fans wonder how the star will be reintroduced into the show.

After a 17-year hiatus from the popular Australian soap, the star has made a serious career U-turn entertaining the masses with his musical talents.

He’s also starred in a slew of surprising TV and movie roles.

At the age of nine Salvatore joined a theatrical institute where he was trained in Acting, Singing, Dance and Musical Theatre developing into one of Australia’s foremost performing artists.

He is also a regular host and performer of corporate events, festivals, weddings and award nights throughout Australia. Sal often keeps fans up to date on his music career on social media, posting videos from events while on stage.

“I just love having fun; it’s what wakes me up everyday to keep coming back weekend after weekend to do what I love,” he told his legion of fans.

Heartbreak High role

Best known for his role as Con Bordino in the 90s teen drama Heartbreak High, Sal starred as popular student Costa “Con” Bordino.

His character took on a host of dramatic storylines including having a fling with his friend’s mum and taking on a slew of controversial romances in between his entrepreneurial endeavours.

His character left the soap for a student exchange program but later returned to reveal he had dropped out of school to enter the real estate business.

After two years in that role, Coco joined the cast of the final series of Police Rescue as Joseph Cardillo. He had many guest roles in television series such as Country Practice, Water Rats and Wildside.

His most notable acting credit since Heartbreak High was starring as Dimitri Poulos in Australian soap opera Home and Away.

His feature film credits include a lead role in Walk the Talk and roles in Looking for Alibrandi, Bootmen and Two Hands.

Whilst many fans know the star from his acting roles in Heartbreak High and Home and Away, the talented star made a career u-turn in recent years when he began working as a regular wedding singer.

The star has MC’d and sang at 100s of wedding and often posts intimate video of happy couples on his Instagram. “Moments like these are priceless and I am blessed to be sharing it with you both,” he shared on Instagram.

Sal claims on his website that his ”accomplished voice, dynamic stage presence, charisma and humour keeps audiences wanting more of his innovative approach.”

The star often boasts of his love of singing, while also taking on acting gigs on the side.

“I just love my job so much; it’s so rewarding and it full fills me with so much happiness every time #ilovemyjob #livingthedream,” he gushed.
