How much are Strictly stars paid? From £50k for dancers to £150k presenting gig

Strictly Come Dancing is known for its glitz and glamour, with fabulous celebrities learning new tricks to impress the judges and make their way to the final.

The show is full of flamboyant outfits, extravagant makeup and even more outrageous dance moves, but behind all the fun there’s a job to be done.

The celebrity contestants are surely the main event, but each year the professionals – including the hosts and judges – all try their hardest to put on the best show yet.

The Strictly pros are partnered with a celebrity every year in an attempt to dance their way to the Glitterball trophy.

It has been reported that the professional dancers are paid £50,000 for their appearance in the BBC One competition, even if they are the first to be sent home.

However, many of the pros also go on to take part in Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals tour after the show has finished, along with spin-off shows and other such productions.

AJ Pritchard is allegedly the highest paid dancer from the show with a net worth of £450,000.

AJ has previously earned £120,000 from television appearances, £70,000 for taking part in the Strictly Live Tour and another £350,000 from the Professionals Tour.

Another contender for the top spot is Kevin Clifton, who won the series back in 2018 with current partner Stacey Dooley.

As well as competing in Strictly, Clifton has starred in ITV’s All Star Musicals which earned him an alleged £80,000 and another £10,000 for 20 weeks in Burn The Floor and Rock of Ages.

Presenters

Host Tess Daly is thought to earn a staggering £150,000 alone from presenting Strictly, but her other endeavours add up to a solid portion of her overall net worth – which is estimated at £3 million.

Aside from hosting on BBC One, Tess presents the annual Children In Need programme and has previously acted as a brand ambassador for hair care brand L’Oreal and jewellery giant Pandora.

Tess’ co-star Claudia Winkleman’s net worth is estimated to be around £8 million and a large portion of that is paid to her by the BBC.

Her work at the BBC earns her a salary of £370,000, of which her Strictly role, that she took up in 2014, is also a part of.

Judges

Craig Revel Horwood may be one of the most iconic and long standing figures on the show, but “Mr Nasty” is reportedly one of the lowest paid stars of the show.

However, Craig pulls in revenue in other ways as he is the main choreographer for the show’s Live Tour and regularly takes part in the pantomime industry, while also renting properties which would rake in a considerable amount of cash each year.

On the other end of the spectrum, head judge Shirley Ballas started the show on £180,000, but after negotiating a pay rise, the esteemed dance teacher can earn up to £250,000.

Like Craig, Ballas also appears in pantomimes and takes the time to teach at a London dance school.
