Their addresses and other details were published on the dark web after the raid on Daylesford Organic.

Security expert Philip Ingram – a former colonel in British military – warned: “This cyber attack should be a wake-up call for the security services and businesses.

“Daylesford is exactly the kind of company that would be viewed by Russia-based hackers as both a lucrative ransomware opportunity and of potential use to power brokers in the Kremlin.”

The luxury grocer’s, based in the privately-owned village of Daylesford in Gloucestershire, is reported to have delivered food to Boris Johnson during lockdown.

The ex-PM is not among the clients whose details were stolen.

The leak came after Daylesford bosses refused to pay hackers a ransom in the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

The gang – known as ‘Snatch Team’ – then published a vast 80 gigabytes of stolen files.

The documents include order sheets for wealthy clients and receipts for purchases by store owner Lady Carole Bamford.

Sensitive details like staff grievances, confidentiality agreements and banking information were also exposed.

Experts said the Snatch Team probably used ransomware hidden in an email attachment to get into Daylesford’s computer system.

It comes after the Russian-speaking gang hacked McDonald’s on February 24 – the day Russia invaded Ukraine.

Daylesford announced it had been hacked in June 2021, but said no personal information had been compromised.

The firm did not respond to a request for comment.

The Information Commissioner’s Office said: “Daylesford Organic made us aware of an incident.

“After reviewing the information, we gave data protection advice and closed the case.”

Jeremy Clarkson is yet to say anything on the breach himself after his personal data was leaked online.
