Jim Carrey 'probably' retiring from acting after latest film as he's 'done enough'

Legendary comic Jim Carrey says he is planning to retire from acting after 40 years — because he has ‘done enough’.

The 60-year-old Ace Ventura star made the surprise announcement during an interview to promote Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Revealing his future plans to Access Hollywood, he said: “It depends, if the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road but I’m taking a break”

“I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like, and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”

Jim Carrey says Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will ‘probably’ be his last film

It comes only days after he said he was ‘sickened’ by the ‘spineless’ Oscars crowd giving a standing ovation to Will Smith for winning ‘best actor’ only minutes after he attacked host Chris Rock at this week’s ceremony.

The Truman Show icon also blasted Smith for his violent reaction to Rock’s joke about his wife Jada, saying that he should have expressed his displeasure differently if he felt offended by the joke.

Discussing Chris’s reluctance to press charges, he told Gayle King on CBS: “I would have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200m because that video is going to be there forever.”

The comedy icon recently blasted Will Smith for smacking Chris Rock at the Oscars

“If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter, you do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face ‘cos they said words.”

“I don’t have anything against Will Smith”, he added, saying that the actor has “done great things”, but suggested that the incident “cast a pall over everybody’s shining moment.”

Carrey plays Dr Robotnik in the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film.
