Kanye West accused of punching fan and is being investigated for criminal battery

Rapper Kanye West has been accused of punching a fan who asked for his autograph.

The musician is now reportedly under investigation for misdemeanour criminal battery, which carries a maximum jail sentence of six months.

The fan is said to have approached West at around 3am on Thursday morning, while he was sitting in his SUV outside a club in Downtown Los Angeles.

When the fan asked for West’s autograph, a heated exchange reportedly followed.

In a video obtained by US news outlet TMZ, West could be heard yelling: “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not? ‘Cause that’s what happened right f***king now.”

In the clip, shot through what looks to be the slats of blinds, West can be seen wearing a black sweatshirt and waving his arms at the fan beside a white car.

West allegedly punched the fan, who was knocked to the ground, and drove away from the scene.

TMZ further reported that West had been out partying at Delilah nightclub in West Hollywood with Julia Fox, who remained at the club while he left.

He was pictured by paparazzi exchanging a kiss with the actress outside the nightclub.

The pair are said to have had an “instant connection” and have gone on a string of lavish dates together in recent weeks.

LAPD are currently investigating the incident. No arrests have been made, and West has not commented on the incident.

It comes after the news that the American rapper is set to perform his first ever show at a gospel Sunday service in Russia – and plans to meet with President Vladimir Putin while over there.

Kanye’s rep said the performance is “something he’s been wanting to do since he debuted the Sunday Service project in 2019”.

His strategic advisor Ameer Sudan said: “Kanye knows what’s going on more than the average human being; he’s well aware of things. And it’s nothing against the United States or to cause conflicts, but Ye is Ye — he can’t be controlled.”

Kanye even threw his hat in the ring to run for US president in 2020, but only qualified for the ballot in 12 states after a badly-run campaign.
