Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha couldn't carry her baby amid nightmare skin condition

Nadia Sawalha has revealed she couldn’t pick up her baby after her skin conditions got so bad.

The Loose Women star, 57, suffers from eczema, and she opened up about her skin health on Friday’s edition of the ITV daytime chat show.

She told her co-stars Kaye Adams, Frankie Bridge, and Jane Moore that she suffered so “terribly” with her skin that she was unable to work, and had to go on steroids to help the issue.

Speaking about her skin battle, she said: “My skin… I used to suffer terribly with it. It would get so bad I couldn’t work, and now I’ve learnt that when it starts to go, that I have to say ‘Am I sleeping enough? What am I really stressed about?’.

“I just think about how I’m looking after myself.”

Jane asked her: “Is it like hives?”, to which Nadia replied: “I just get open sores. Eczema. You’ve seen it over the years, haven’t you?”

She went on to explain how it affected her in the early days of motherhood – as it got so bad that she couldn’t pick up one of her babies.

Nadia said “Mine was so bad that I couldn’t work, couldn’t pick up my baby. It was so awful.”

The ITV star suffers from psoriasis, and has used an alternative form of treatment called homeopathy.

Her eczema once got so bad that she was forced to fly home from filming in Ibiza, as her skin flared up in the sun.

Nadia shares her two daughters, Maddie and Kiki-Bee, with her second husband Mark Adderley, a TV producer.

She previously told Hello that one of her worst skin blow-ups happened after her daughter was born.

She said: “It got so bad that I had no skin at all on my hands.

Nadia added: “For me, it was emotional. It was a real shock after having my baby. I was an older mum, I wasn’t really coping very well with it and I was newly married.” The presenter had another major blow up of eczema on her face when her husband’s nan died two Christmases ago.
