Love Island Amber Gill shares secret Tommy Fury rule break which sparked producer fury

Love Island star Amber Gill has opened up about the strict rules the Islanders had to follow while taking part on the ITV2 dating show.

Across the eight-week series, the residents are obliged to follow a series of strict rules set out by ITV bosses which include no personal mobile phones, limited alcohol and even no masturbation.

It is understood that during the fifth series of the show, Love Island’s Sheri Lanre was removed from the villa after breaking the rules “in a case of poor judgement.”

Ahead of the launch of her debut romance novel, Until I Met You, the star opened up about how one member of the production team was “told off” for informing the islanders of news going on in the outside world.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, the brunette beauty admitted how the Islanders weren’t allowed to know about how many followers they had raked in during their time on the show in case it impacted how they carry themselves in the villa.

She explained: “There’s some things that you aren’t allowed to talk about. If you talk about what’s going on – not in terms of what’s going on in your own life and your friends and family, you’re allowed to talk about that.

“But people will come in and try to tell you how many followers you’ve got and stuff, you’re not allowed to talk about that sort of thing.

“I remember someone coming in and saying Tommy was the first person to hit a million on our [series] and they got really told off for saying that.”

But that’s not the only rule the residents had to follow, as Amber explained how ITV bosses provide their own branded condoms for Islanders to use during their stay in order to practice safe sex.

When asked if she ever saw sex toys and condoms inside the villa, she confessed: “Yeah I’m sure they’ve got hearts on them or something.

Talking about the condoms in the villa, she added: “I can’t remember exactly what they’ve got on them but yeah they’re in like a white package and there’s something written on it.

“They probably are [super strong] to make sure [no one gets pregnant], they’re probably the strongest ones you can get on the market.”

It comes as Amber prepares for the launch of her romance book – which hits the shelves on Thursday (July 7) – which follows the life of a young adult finding her way through life as a singleton at a wedding full of couples.

One thing the star pointed out which sets her book apart from many of the other romance novels on the market is the importance of strong friendships.

She explained: “One of the main messages [in the book] for me is definitely how important friendships and having a friendship group is.

“It’s just a really nice escapism, beachy read for if you want to take it on holiday or if you just want some niceness.

“I feel like we’ve got so much chaos going on in the world anyway so I wanted to make this so that someone had something nice to read, something light hearted.”
