Love Island fans demand mics be turned off after Davide's awkward gym grunting

Love Island fans were left cringing when Davide Sanclimenti attempted to show off his prowess in the gym by squatting with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu on his shoulders.

The pair were seen working out together in the garden when Davide decided to ask Ekin-Su how much she weighs so he could consider his options for stretching his muscles.

The actress responded that she was “about 60kg” to which he gleefully admitted, “I think I can do you.”

The Italian hunk then proceeded to get her to stand in front of him as he slid his head between her legs to pick her up onto his shoulders.

Davide, 27, then proceeded to pick up two heavy dumbells, one in each hand, before performing a series of squats bobbing up and down with her clinging on above him squealing with delight.

However, viewers of the show weren’t quite so excited by the display of power, instead, cringing at the series of grunting and moaning sounds Davide was making as he crouched up and down.

They then took to Twitter to demand that his mic should have been turned off to save them from hearing his bodily noises.

One wrote: “I’ve never been so turned off from seeing a gym session.”

Another grossed-out fan said: “Davide moaning is almost as bad as the kissing noises, pls turn the mics off I beg.”

A third posted: “For the love of god someone turn off Davide’s mic.”

A fourth social media user tweeted: “What the hell are these grunting noises. Yuk. Making me wanna turn the TV off.”

A fifth continued: “Ugh the grunting noises, please turn the mics off.”

The move paid off for Ekin-Su as Davide picked to pair up with her during the recoupling later that night saving her from the possibility of being dumped from the Island after just a few days in the Villa.

Paige and Afia were left single following the recoupling but were saved from being dumped because Liam Llewellyn had already quit the show.

Love Island continues Sunday at 9 pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
