Love Island's Jacques O'Neill 'isn't over ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen' claims ITV2 star

Love Island: The Morning After podcast host Arielle Free believes Jacques O’Neill isn’t over his ex-girlfriend.

The rugby star caused quite the stir after arriving in the villa during Sunday’s episode (June 12) when he revealed his previous eight-month relationship with Gemma Owen.

In the latest Love Island: The Morning After podcast, hosts Kem Cetinay and Arielle, 34, discussed Jacques and his decision to couple up with Paige Thorne.

Speaking highly of Paige, 24, former Love Island winner Kem expressed concerns over the 23-year-old, believing he could be there to mess the girls around.

“I’m a bit concerned about him, the 26-year-old admitted before speculating: “I think he could be a bit of a player.”

BBC Radio 1 presenter Arielle agreed, saying: “I think he’s going to be trouble,” before adding: “I think he also isn’t over Gemma and I do think, given the opportunity, he would try and snog her.”

The broadcaster explained her reasons behind this and referenced an interaction between the three islanders.

“Even when Luca came over to the firepit and Jacques was like ‘what you talking about guys?’ and Luca was like ‘I’m just talking about how I’m going to kiss your ex-girlfriend’ and Jacques response was ‘yeah to be honest I reckon she’d kiss you today’.”

The podcaster believes the interaction suggested Jacques “had some sort of authority or knowledge that Luca didn’t have” but admitted this could be down to boys “being territorial.”

Arielle also mentioned Gemma and Luca’s “tiny peck” and claimed Gemma looked around the villa to see if her ex-boyfriend had witnessed it.

“After they had their tiny peck, the first thing she did was turn around and look in the kitchen to see if anyone had seen or to see if potentially Jacques had seen,” she theorized.

The Scottish DJ added: “I couldn’t see where Jacques was in the villa but I was like wow, what’s that all about?”

Several fans have speculated that Jacques’ entrance was no coincidence and the pair planned it prior to going on the show.

One wrote: “You can not tell me Gemma and Jacques did not plan this before coming in they think we’re foolish.”

“Plot twist: This was Jacques and Gemma’s plan all along,” another suggested.

While a third tweeted: “She done it with Davide and Liam as well tho. She had full eye contact with Jacques no problems. I’ve got a feeling this was the plan all along have her reunite with her ex.”

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITV Hub at 9pm
