Millie Mackintosh asked husband to 'suck out milk' after experiencing breastfeeding pain

The former Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh opened up on Instagram about her battle with the infection mastitis and the pain she feels when breastfeeding.

Mastitis is an inflammation of breast tissue and can cause breast pain, swelling and redness.

32-year-old new mum Millie, who gave birth eight weeks ago with a planned C-section, discussed her battle with the infection.

She revealed she is struggling to breastfeed her daughter, Aurelia, due to blocked milk ducts caused by mastitis.

Millie, who was in major pain whilst breastfeeding, had asked her husband and former Made In Chelsea star, Hugo Taylor, 35, to ‘suck out’ the blocked milk from her breast.

She said: “I have asked Hugo to try sucking out the blockage but he is not keen so we won’t be trying that!”

The new mum had shared her experience on an Instagram story and thanked her followers for their support and guidance.

She said: “Hi everyone, just a little update, thank you so much for all your advice on mastitis.”

She added: “I’ve had so many lovely messages and I’m on antibiotics. I went to a women’s health physio yesterday and had a really painful but effective massage and that has definitely helped a little bit.

“And also they used an ultrasound machine to help break down the blockage. The area is still sore but it’s actually not red anymore because the area was bright red, so that’s good.”

Mastitis can affect both genders, but it’s most common with women who are breastfeeding.

Millie, who welcomed Aureliá in November, is also mum to the 20-month-old Sienna.

Talking about her recent birthing experience, Millie said: “As a serial planner, it freaked me out thinking the baby was coming early, but luckily my second C-section was everything that I hoped it would be and just magical.

“I asked to drop the curtain and watch Aurelia be born, which was an incredible moment that I will treasure forever!'”
