Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has been sentenced to a year of home detention for failing to register as a sex offender.
Petty, 44, was also ordered to pay a fine of 55,000$ (£46,000) for the offence, according to the US Attorney’s Office.
According to CBS Los Angeles, he was looking at a maximum prison sentence of 10 years with a lifetime of supervised release but was sentenced on Wednesday (July 6) to just one year of in-home detention and three years of probation.

Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl back in 1995, for which he spent four years in prison for.

Kenneth, who married musician Nicki, 39, in 2019, moved to California in 2019 but did not register as a sex offender within five days.
Prosecutors previously urged the judge to sentence Kenneth to further prison time, arguing that house arrest was not a severe enough punishment.
In a September 2021 appearance on “The Real,” Jennifer Hough – who was the 16-year-old girl Kenneth allegedly raped – spoke out about the alleged 1994 incident.
Jennifer, who’s now 43, claimed Kenneth approached her at a bus stop, pulled a knife on her and led her to a house, where the alleged incident occurred.

She alleged: “I knew what he wanted. He pushed me down on the bed, we wrestled for my clothes.”
After allegedly escaping and making her way back to school, Jennifer told her side of what happened to security and Kenneth was arrested that day.
Nicki has stuck by her husband’s side throughout the ordeal and defended him on various occasions.
Addressing the incident via Instagram in 2018, she wrote, “He was 15, she was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, [sic] internet, y’all can’t run my life. y’all can’t even run y’all own life.”

Nicki went public with her relationship with Kenneth back in December 2020, revealing to fans they’d rekindled their childhood romance and couldn’t be happier.
Nicki and Kenneth have known each since their teenage years since and in February 2019, she revealed: “He’s known me since I was 14.”
Nicki gave birth to their first child on September 30, 2020, and they have never officially revealed her son’s name.
