Piers Morgan bites back at social media user after jibe about TalkTV ratings

Piers Morgan has hit back at a jibe on social media about his new show’s ratings on Talk TV.

The presenter, 57, is well-known for his activity on Twitter, and it was there he decided to take issue when another user poked fun at his new Talk TV show.

Piers Morgan: Uncensored launched on April 25, bringing in a huge 316,800 viewers for the first episode, which featured a tense chat between Piers and former pal Donald Trump.

However, the show has seen ratings plummet, falling to just 62,000 one week after launch.

Not that Piers is letting it get to him, taking to his Twitter on Wednesday to respond after someone had jokingly asked how his ratings were going.

The former Good Morning Britain host said: “Exactly how I assumed they would… all very encouraging. We’re building the biggest global show of its kind, available in many different formats around the world. Clips viewed over 100m times now, in just 2 weeks”

While Piers’ new show did get off to a flyer (beating the likes of GB News and Sky News in its’ slot), the presenter was left to issue a plea to the nation to watch it earlier this week.

Piers took to Instagram on Wednesday to ask his millions of followers to tune in – saying they shouldn’t feel guilty about watching Uncensored.

He shared a humorous snap which played on Piers’ controversial reputation, a press pic for TalkTV which depicted their anchor as both an angel and a devil with horns.

The ex-Britain’s Got Talent also showed the ability to take the mickey out of himself with the caption.

Piers penned: “[Laughing emoji] No need to feel so guilty, Nation… give yourselves some guilt-free pleasure by watching @piersmorganuncensored tonight at 8pm! Got another cracking show coming up.”

Since TalkTV launched, Piers has interviewed the likes of world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury – after defending his belt against Dillian Whyte.

Other guests have included Morgan’s good pal Sharon Osbourne, as well as Caitlyn Jenner and Jeremy Kyle.
