Piers Morgan in shouting match chaos on BBC as Fiona Bruce has to step in

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan made an explosive return to BBC Question Time on Thursday.

During the programme, he said: “With respect, in the last ten days of the monumental c**k-up you did with this mini-budget, I’ve so far heard people blame the Queen’s funeral for what happened, you’re now blaming Vladimir Putin.

“I’m saying to you it’s simpler than that. Your mini-budget caused the chaos.”

This comes after chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng confirmed in a tweet on Monday that the Tories were doing a U-turn on the cutting of the 45p tax rate.

Nadhim Zahawi, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, who was also on the show, fired back at Morgan’s remarks and said: “Do you not think Vladimir Putin is using energy as a tool?”

Fiona Bruce, Question Time’s host interfered with their spat and pointed out that Zahawi had already made that point.

But Zahawi carried on, continuing his point and said: “Countries around the world, bankers are having to increase interest rates.”

After Morgan hit back once more, insisting that it was “because of your mini budget!” the host finally regained control of the conversation.

She said, “Both of you. You’ve both made your points. You’re now repeating them. Fascinating as though they are. There’s a forest of hands here.”

Fans took to Twitter to express how much they were enjoying the debate.

One person wrote: “Piers Morgan is returning to Question Time as Liz Truss once again proves that she’s not fit to be the Prime Minister. I cannot wait.”

Another said: “You’re not going to hold back and I can’t wait to see it all unfold.”

One tweeter even suggested that Morgan should be on the programme on a “permanent basis”.

Morgan recently ditched his own TalkTV show to go and play some golf while Jeremy Kyle stepped in.

Kyle posted a candid video to social media explaining that he had a call from TalkTV bosses.

“Would you like to do Piers Morgan’s show today and tomorrow?’ ‘Of course, if I can help out, what’s wrong, is he ill?’ ‘No, he’s not ill.

“‘Why isn’t he there then?’ ‘He wants to play golf.’ ‘He wants to play golf?! Where?!’

It then emerged that Morgan was taking part in a golf tournament in Scotland.
