Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “don’t have much pushback from the Hollywood circle”, according to a US-based entertainment reporter, as their Netflix documentary drops.
The duo are set to reveal all about their lives together in a multi-episode Netflix documentary, with the first three episodes dropping December 8.
And while the trailers have so-far divided people in the UK, people in the US reportedly do not find the couple as “polarising”, entertainment journalist KJ Matthews said.

Speaking from Los Angeles on BBC Breakfast, KJ explained that Harry and Meghan have been able to live the quiet, private life they so wanted when leaving the UK and the wider Royal Family.

She said: “Because they live in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbaraâs about two or three hours from Los Angeles, theyâre not really under the Hollywood glare, theyâre not in the thick of Hollywood, theyâre far away, removed, theyâre closer to Oprah out there with a lot of other celebrities, but everyone kind of lives in the shadows out in Santa Barbara.

“Theyâre not followed in the way they would be in the city of Los Angeles or even New York, so they’ve been able to keep a private life outside of all the things theyâre doing with Netflix and Spotify and their business dealings, theyâre able to control their narrative a little bit more and because of that, I donât think theyâve had that much push back from the Hollywood circle.
“However I am seeing a lot more pushback from people on the right and the more conservative community in the States, theyâre a little bit harsher on them. From the most part, the liberal part of Hollywood hasnât been harsh on them.”

Speaking of the reaction from Americans to the couple, KJ said Meghan is not as “polarising” to people in the US as she is to people in the UK.
“I also think a lot of people in the States think she has not been treated fairly, and some of the initial criticism that was thrown her way had a lot more to do with things she couldnât change, perhaps â her race, her background, her being American, her being married and divorced before she met Prince Harry,” she said.
“So people have been willing to give her a second chance her and see things from a different perspective, perhaps very different for people in the UK.”
