Seann Walsh's partner made him join I'm A Celeb after Strictly snog controversy

l’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! latecomer Seann Walsh said he’s joining the jungle so that the public can see the real him – at the behest of his partner.

The comedian is probably best known for his Strictly Come Dancing snog with professional partner Katya in 2018, when both parties were in relationships.

Seann was dubbed a love rat after photos of him and Katya smooching on a night out emerged and his then girlfriend gave an emotional interview.

But the 36-year-old said his new partner has convinced him to take part in IAC so viewers could see what he’s really like.

Seann is in a relationship with dance teacher Grace Adderly, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

He told the Mirror: “Grace is the main reason why I am doing I’m A Celebrity.

“As you can imagine I was very scared after the last time I was on a big show because the fallout was not something you would want to go back to.

“Grace talked me into doing it. She convinced me it was the wrong attitude to have, not doing it because I feared what people would think, but to do it because I would have a wonderful time.”

Referring to the Strictly incident which led to him splitting from then girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, he added: “People have voiced their feelings about me and I am hoping they will see I am very different. I want to create new memories.

“I want to make some new friends and new memories and have a nice time”.

Seann has said the Strictly incident and the fallout severely damaged his mental health.

Despite his pain, his comedy shows have continued to do well in recent years.

His Edinburgh show this year “Seann Walsh: Is Dead. Happy Now?” was nominated for the Best Comedy show award.

Asked for his best attribute he said: “I don’t want to put myself down but if my friends were to answer this question, they would say there isn’t much Seann can do! I am not really bringing too much to the table which is why I am a good listener!

“I can’t cook but I seriously can’t wait to go on now. The idea of sitting around the fire with people who have probably won gold medals, pop stars and actors putting the world to rights is exciting.”

Asked what he will miss most, Seann said he was actively looking forward to a digital detox.

He said: “I won’t miss my phone. But I will miss Grace and our dog. Grace is over the moon though as she gets to come to Australia!”

As for being crowned King of the jungle, Seann thinks it is highly unlikely this will happen.

“I would be absolutely astounded,” he said. “I tend to be someone who doesn’t think about that sort of thing. I have learnt in life to take it as it comes and maybe not expect too much.”
