Strictly Come Dancing confirm comedian Ellie Taylor as ninth contestant for 2022

Ellie Taylor is the ninth celebrity to be announced to take part in 2022’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The stand-up comic was announced on ITV’s hugely popular daytime show Lorraine as she shared how nervous she is to be joining the cast later on this year.

As Ranvir Singh welcomed her onto the show, the actress confessed that she has been struggling to keep her participation on the show quiet for months.

She told the TV host: “I’ve managed to keep it in, there’s been a few times where I’ve been out on the street going [whistles Strictly Come Dancing opening music].

“I caught my mum doing it in the toilets at a restaurant because we were out on Sunday for my dad’s birthday and she was whistling in the loo!”

When asked about how she feels in the months leading up to the show, Ellie confessed: “The thing is, when I perform comedy, I’m very sort of clowny and limby.

“I’ve never been elegant in my life, I’ve been called many things in my life but elegant is never one of them. So I can’t wait to see if I can find that elegance, find that poise to be like a proper grown-up person.”

The brunette beauty, 38, is known for her hilarious sketches on The Mash Report and has recently expanded her horizons as she took part in the award-winning TV series Ted Lasso.

She first found fame when she appeared on the 14th series of Mock The Week back in 2015 which she continued to perform on for the next four years.

But arguably the comic is most famous for her role on The Mash Report back in 2017 where she performed as a newsreader names Susan which allowed her to poke fun at the latest news hitting the headlines over the past seven days.

And the TV star hasn’t just been a huge hit in the UK, after Ranvir revealed Hollywood actor Brad Pitt is quite the fan of her work as she welcomed her onto the show.
