This year will be the first time the BBC will base the UK’s announcer outside of the country’s capital, London.

AJ spoke about the opportunity and said: “I’ve watched the contest ever since I was a kid, when I fell in love with the pure joy of it, and the fact it’s coming up North is amazing. It’s like the Eurovision stars have aligned for me.”

The shining Strictly star has gone on to present a number of shows since her performance in the 2021 final was cut short due to a torn ankle ligament.
