Strictly's Giovanni Pernice explains real reason he won with Rose Ayling-Ellis

Strictly star Giovanni Pernice has explained the special reason he won the dancing series with his soap star partner Rose Ayling-Ellis.

The pair made Strictly Come Dancing history when Rose became the first deaf person to appear on the show, but the 31-year-old dancer claims there was another reason the pair danced their way across the finish line.

Speaking at the launch of the Strictly tour, the pair explained they believed their “special connection” and not feeling under pressure to be the best was a magical winning combination.

Giovanni told The Sun: “It’s more about the connection. It’s been good from day one.

“We understood each other. We didn’t have much pressure about winning the show.

“And I was more relaxed into the teaching this year.

“We really work well together, we have a fantastic connection. We respect each other.”

EastEnders star Rose, 27, added: “It’s about good communication and having fun, that’s what makes such a good partnership and why we get on really well.”

The Italian dancer unveiled a stunning tribute to Rose and their time in the competition by inking a stunning tattoo in homage to their journey together.

The intricate tattoo features a Glitterball trophy with ‘SCD’ written through it and two shining stars on either side.

Written underneath is the date, “18-12-2021”, which represents the show’s final when Giovanni and Rose were crowned the 2021 winners.

Giovanni, 31, captioned the image: “We are the champions, we are the champions”.

The duo are dancing together once again after reuniting for the nationwide Strictly Come Dancing live tour

The duo are dancing together once again after reuniting for the nationwide Strictly Come Dancing live tour and are continuing their winning streak after they were crowned the winners on the first night.

Appearing on This Morning earlier this month, the pair opened up about what lucky concertgoers can expect to see from their live performances.

“We said it’d be weird for us not to do our couple’s choice dance,” Rose said, with Giovanni adding: “It was such a special moment that we have to do again and again.

“It’s such an important dance, it’s a statement, and doing it in an arena with 10,000 people live and stopping the music would be quite spectacular, I think. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve done on Strictly.”
