The Chase fans split over Omid Djalili as they slam 'cringe' performance

Fans of The Chase were divided over Omid Djalili’s appearance after he left them “cringing.”

The comedian was the last contestant to go up against the chaser, Anne Hegerty, on today’s episode (May 7), but before he took his go, he gave a short performance of Anastacia’s I’m Outta Love.

The 56-year-old started singing to the celebrity panel while the studio audience joined in clapping.

Viewers were quick to take to Twitter to explain how they felt about his rendition of the classic song.

One user said: “I just cringed so hard my spleen went through the window.”

A second penned: “I’m cringing at Omid.”

A third said: “Anne must be thinking what a bell**d he truly is.”

While some fans weren’t impressed with the performance, others took to Twitter to praise the comedian for his hilarity.

One viewer wrote: “Omid Djalili is a tiny bit mad, I love him…”

Another quipped: “Absolutely love Omid Djalili, he creases me so much.”

While a third said: “Watching @omid9 on The Chase. What an entertaining man, loved it!”

The actor took a gamble and attempted to win £128,000 for charity, but was unfortunately caught by The Governess.

Sat on the panel alongside Omid was comedian Susan Calman, broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan and former Olympian Perri Shakes-Drayton.

The three celebrities made it to the final chase and attempted to win £12,000 for their chosen charities.

The hopeful contestants scored 20 in the final chase but Anne, 63, caught them with one second to spare.

Shortly after the episode started, eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that this particular episode had aired before.

A viewer asked: “Is there not any new celebrity chase episodes #thechase.”

A second fumed: “@ITVChase again, this is either the 3rd or 4th repeat of tonight’s show. Disgusting.”

While a third penned: “I’m a big fan of the chase and the chase celebrity special but I’ve seen this episode so many times I know the answers before I’ve heard the questions- do you reckon you could make some new programs ??”

The Chase: Celebrity Special airs weekends on ITV.
