This Morning's Alison Hammond opens up on finding love in candid chat live on ITV show

This Morning’s Dermott O’Leary and Alison Hammond were full of gushy pleasantries as they confessed feelings for one another during a chat about love.

The 48-year-old former X Factor host, who tied the knot with wife Dee Koppang in 2012, told his co-star “I’m right here, all you needed.”

A bashful but gleeful Alison lapped up the attention in her usual hilarious fashion as Gyles Brandreth and Matthew Wright joined the ITV twosome for a chat about all things love related.

On Friday’s episode (May 6), the Brummie star who found fame on Big Brother in 2002 also revealed that she had found what she was looking for “ages ago”.

Chatting about relationships, Alison gave some encouraging words of wisdom, to which Gyles responded: “Marilyn Monroe, very beautiful, found it quite difficult finding love.

“So you, Alison, may find finding love a bit of a challenge.”

Alison replied: “Sometimes, I think, what it is… certain people are constantly comparing to other people in their relationships.

“They think ‘oh this isn’t good enough for me, I’m going to find something else’.

Nodding in agreement, Matthew added: “Don’t look, let it find you.”

Dermot chimed in: “I’m right here, all you needed. Right under your nose”.

With a smile, Alison replied: “I found you ages ago”.

When it comes to matters of the heart, Dermot and Alison have often made their feelings for each other known live on-air.

Earlier on in the year, Dermot expressed plans to “marry” his presenting co-star before attempting to withdraw his comments.

During the episode, the pair were deep in discussion about weddings that had been proposed in lockdown.

Causing a stir, Alison quipped how she’d organised a 30 minute ceremony especially for her and Dermot.

Getting hot under the collar, Dermot told her: “If I was going to get married again, I’d want to marry you.

He added: “If I couldn’t marry you, I would get married by you.”

Alison said: “Oh, really? I love that you want to marry me”, to which Dermot swiftly replied: “I didn’t say I want to marry you, I said…”

“Err rewind it I think you’ll find that you did,” exclaimed Alison.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
