TOWIE's James 'Arg' Argent floors fans as star uncregonisable on Good Morning Britain

ITV fans were stunned upon seeing reality star James ‘Arg’ Argent and his jaw-dropping weight loss as he appeared on Good Morning Britain.

Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard welcomed the TOWIE star into the studio to discuss their 1 Million Minutes campaign which aims to prevent loneliness – something the 35-year-old revealed he is familiar with.

He told the duo: “It was a couple of years ago, I was in a bad place. The festive time can be filled with joy but can also be a really difficult time for people and a couple of years ago, it was very lonely.”

The star added: “My loneliness was self inflicted. I distanced myself away from other people and I was very isolated.”

Speaking about how he turned things around, Arg explained: “You’ve got to reach out and speak to people. Don’t get me wrong, it goes a long way people giving you a phone call or dropping you a messaging but you’ve got to really want to engage.”

The reality star has also been open with his struggle with weight over the years, reaching 27 stone during lockdown.

He had life-saving gastric sleeve surgery in 2021 and went on to lose a whopping 14 stone.

Discussing his weight loss, Arg told the duo: “I actually lost a total of 14 stone but I think I lost a little bit too much weight. I told myself the skinnier you are, the better, but that’s not always the case. So I’ve managed to gradually get a stone back on.”

He went on to say: “There was a Christmas Day where I spent the whole day alone in my house. So the fact that I’ve managed to turn things around is great.”

“It just goes to show that not all these stories you hear about addiction and depression doesn’t always have to end in tragedy. People can turn it around.”

“Almost didn’t recognise Arg, he looks so good,” added another user as someone else penned: “Arg looks very smart #GMB.”

A fourth gushed: “Fair play Arg – you look fantastic! #gmb,” while another tweeted: “Arg reminding me there that I’ve got to get my vegetables #GMB.”
