Will Smith smacking Chris Rock at Oscars sparks complaints to US Government agency

Oscars Awards night viewers have complained in mass about Will Smith’s violent outburst on Chris Rock.

Many fans were outraged and complained to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), according to reports.

It has been reported that a total of 66 viewers have complained to the FCC – a US government agency that regulates TV.

The whole scenario took place live on stage at the academy affair in front of hundreds of showbiz faces, with fans watching at home.

Host of the night and comedian Chris Rock made an awkward below the belt joke about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, which led to Will’s fury.

Chris made a reference to Jada taking part in the next G.I Jane movie – as a nod to both of their heads being bald.

However, this joke didn’t land well at the Smith table as Jada had been knowingly suffering from alopecia.

This resulted in Will strolling up to the stage to confront Chris for his jibe, and him smacking him across the face.

Chris looked seriously shocked by the matter and said: “Oh wow, Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me.”

Will then shouted from his seat: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth.”

Chris replied: “Wow, dude, it was a G.I Jane joke.”

Will then snapped again, louder and more aggressive this time: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth!”

To which Chris then bowed down and told Will he was going to, as the rest of the night then proceeded.

Fans were angry over the matter and believed the academy should have done more to prevent it.

According to TMZ, one fan said: “Obviously, the Oscar’s crossed a line last night. I should not have to worry about what my CHILDREN are going to hear during the Oscar’s presentation. Not delaying the broadcast for whatever reason was a FAILURE on your part. There needs to be fines and people need to be fired over this. Have we not learned anything in the decades since the Super Bowl debacle? Overall, you have a simple job. Do it!”

Another said: “The level of violence from one black man inflicted onto another over something he didn’t like hearing is intolerable!! Are you tolerating this??? Thought black lives mattered?? Obviously not!! Is that your message???? Smith should be fined & suspended!!!!”
