X Factor mogul Simon Cowell 'is moving into semi-retirement' to spend time with son

Simon Cowell has admitted that he wants to focus on his family and take a break from work for a while, after the impact of the pandemic made him re-evaluate his work ethic.

Simon has earned the right to be called a household name after his continuous and unwavering efforts to entertain entire nations throughout his 40 year career.

The X Factor judge spoke to the Mirror about his plans for the future and said he wishes to “slow down” by quitting full time work.

Cowell announced that he wants to continue working in the limelight for shows in the UK and America, but is considering the impact on his son Eric and fiancée Lauren.

The pair have been together for 13 years

A source close to Cowell said that he is “edging into a kind of semi-retirement” and “has no appetite” to be as involved with his shows and television projects.

Sources have said that the pandemic is to blame for his change of heart, as the icy Britains Got Talent judge realised that his work was creating a lot of stress in his life.

One said: “He doesn’t want to work at that pace anymore. Simon’s back injury from the bike accident in 2020 and the pandemic have made him refocus his life, and at 62, Simon knows he is not getting any younger.”

Simon has been a judge on The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent

They continued: “Someone like Simon will find it hard to let go and not work, but for him this is like edging into a kind of semi-retirement. He won’t be working every day and will pick and choose his work a lot more going forward.”

It appears that despite the claims, Simon will still have time for some of his most beloved television shows.

ITV’S Britain’s Got Talent begins in May and he has recently been working on America’s Got Talent over in the states, where he was papped wearing a comfy looking loungewear set, which could hint towards a little more self care from the overworked businessman.

Simon works in both America and the UK

Cowell used to work extensively behind the scenes and there were even reports that he would watch and edit episodes way into the night.

His hard work made The X Factor one of the biggest TV shows of the last decade, but since his decision to step down, the judge has decided he wants to just be known as a “TV face”.
