1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton unrecognisable as she admits she struggles to breathe

1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has issued a major update on her health after a terrifying near-death experience last year that left her on life support.

The reality star, 36, rose to fame after appearing alongside her sister, Amy Slaton, 35, on their hit TLC show — which sees the siblings, who tipped the scales at a whopping 1,000lb combined, attempting to lose weight.

But Tammy struggled to shed the pounds and after weighing in at 717lb, the heaviest she’s ever been, she suddenly stopped breathing during a trip to a weight loss clinic and was rushed to hospital.

Recalling the incident during series four, Tammy revealed she “completely blacked out” and was placed in a medically induced coma.

But the TV star miraculously pulled through and finally turned her life around after the health scare with an extreme weight loss journey that has seen her shed around 300lb.

In the latest series of 1000lb Sisters, the show revealed how Tammy had finally reached her goal weight to qualify for surgery, weighing in at 534lb.

And while the series is yet to document Tammy’s transformation following the life-changing surgery, her social media makes it clear she’s continued to shed the pounds, with fans praising her slimmed-down figure.

But while Tammy now looks drastically different, fans have still been worried about the breathing tubes she continues to wear.

Finally addressing their concerns in a TikTok video, Tammy revealed she’s still struggling to breathe on her own.

As she filmed a candle unboxing for her 730,000 followers on the platform, Tammy said she wouldn’t be able to light it because she’s “clearly on oxygen”.

Explaining why she still requires her oxygen tank, she said: “I’m still on oxygen because my lungs aren’t completely healed from being on life support.”

But Tammy remains hopeful for the future as she revealed she’s already “so much better” and doesn’t require the oxygen tubes all the time anymore.

She added: “They’re still not completely healed but they are really getting so much better. I’m not completely dependent on oxygen anymore, I can go at least five hours without it.”

The health update comes shortly after Tammy was reportedly spotted breaking her diet as sources said they were worried she could be “back to her old ways”.

She was seen ordering a large sugary chocolate Starbucks drink with whipped cream during a day trip with her brother, Chris Combs, The Sun reported.

A source told them Tammy had been slipping back into old habits after reportedly splitting from her husband, Caleb Willingham — who she wed at Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Centre in Ohio back in November.

Fans said she looks ‘fantastic’

The source claimed: “Tammy is back to her old ways. She isn’t paying attention to her diet, she is vaping, eating McDonald’s regularly, and generally is not taking care of herself.

But Tammy’s fans think she’s looking “amazing” as they encouraged her to continue her weight loss journey after she shared a series of new pictures in a “fit check” posted to TikTok.

One person commented: “Girl!!!! You look absolutely stunning well done what a transformation.”

Another said: “You look FANTASTIC Tammy! You’re doing so amazing Tammy!! Keep choosing you girl!”

While a third added: “You’re looking good keep up the good work. I also have struggled with my weight my entire life so I know what you’re dealing with.”
